Dementia Care
Assisting and Caring for People with Dementia

Dementia is a course that is delivered over a full day. The aims of the course are to have a wider understanding about Dementia, signs and symptoms, causes and treatment, and how to communicate to dementia patients and engage them in activities and develop strategies for intervening with challenging behaviours and communication difficulties.
By the end of this session, candidates will be able to:
- List the signs and symptoms of Dementia; list the different stages of Dementia
- Identify behaviours most commonly exhibited by persons with dementia
- Communicate and engage in activities with Dementia patients
- Identify the needs and reactions of the individual with Dementia and be able to respond effectively
- Understand the challenges posed, both for working with those with Dementia and for those who have Dementia, and possible aides and solutions
- Understand the effect of the environment on those with Dementia
- Understand the difficulties that mealtime can have on the elderly and those with Dementia, and be aware of possible aides and solutions.
The content of this and all our courses has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines and come with a Certified CPD Statement as well as a ProTrainings Certificate and for online courses an Evidence Based Learning statement.
